About Us

Heart for Home became a passion project founded in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2023 by Michelle Dulaney and Johni
Bunch. Driven by a desire for supporting foster, adoptive, and kinship families, our
grassroots nonprofit was founded with the core belief that every family deserves
unwavering support and respite care. Our journey began with a shared commitment to
creating a community where compassion, understanding, and stability thrive,
empowering families to navigate their unique challenges with strength. We work
to offer respite care that provides compassionate support, stability, and a safe haven
for foster, adoptive, and kinship children. We aim to create a nurturing environment
that respects individual needs, fosters strong relationships, and promotes well-being,

allowing families to thrive.

Mission

Heart for Home is committed to connecting foster, adoptive, and kinship children with
supportive and healing homes for respite care. We strive to recruit, prepare, and support FAK
homes before, during, and after by being honest, open-minded, and listening to families needs

and concerns in order to connect them with resources to be successful.
