Job Title: Licensing Specialist
Reports To: Licensing Supervisor
Classification: Full-Time Salary | Exempt
Supervision: None
Work Location: Remote in Michigan near Kalamazoo m
Travel Expectations: Travel to foster homes in the region on an as-needed basis and occasionally to the administrative offices in Kalamazoo, MI.

Position Summary:
The Licensing Specialist position is responsible for assessing and licensing foster home applicants and maintaining those homes for respite purposes. Trains, prepares and supports foster parents.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

Orientates potential respite parents.

Certifies and maintains Foster homes in accordance to policies and procedures of the Division.

Participates in regular supervisions and staff meetings
-
Provides special evaluations for licensed homes, as needed.

Trains and provides training to Foster Care parents.

Coordinates services with staff and families
-
Foster a positive working environment within Heart for Home.

Maintain confidentiality regarding all matters related to Heart for Home.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

Knowledge of computer systems and relevant software.

Ability to make appropriate assessments and recommendations.

Ability to prepare reports, maintain records, and collect and evaluate client data.

Ability to work with community organizations and use community resources to meet client needs.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
-
Ability to relate to diverse populations and cultures while communicating with clients and the public in a courteous and effective manner.

Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
Qualifications/Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree in a human service related field, required
-
Three years of experience in a child welfare agency, Preferred.

Knowledge of computer systems and statistical analysis.

This position requires reliable transportation.

Must have a valid Michigan driver license, good driving record with zero work
-
restrictions, and personal auto insurance as required by law.

Strong conflict resolution and communication skills.
-
Team-oriented with an understanding of parenting skills and assessments.

Experience working with children and families who have experienced trauma

Certifications:

Licensing certification completion required. ​

Working Conditions:
This licensing specialist role primarily involves remote work, offering flexibility and convenience. However, some responsibilities require visiting foster homes to ensure compliance and provide support. These visits necessitate travel between various regional locations. The role demands a high level of self-motivation and the ability to manage time effectively while balancing remote administrative tasks with in-person evaluations and interactions. Adherence to safety protocols and maintaining a professional demeanor in diverse home environments are essential.

Salary Range:

$50,000-$60,000 annually

4 weeks of Paid Time Off, remote working environment. No insurance benefits are available at this time.
